I have been a military spouse for 17 years. In that time I have had three children and each of their births included special challenges related to being a military family. I have had a birth alone, a birth overseas with an international flight ten days later, and finally a birth with my husband and a doula.
When I became a doula myself, I knew my focus would be serving my own community of military families. I focused on being available to the military families near me, but in time I realized that an organization to connect military families with doulas who understand the unique circumstances they face was what our community really needed.
Today that vision is coming to fruition with the launch of The Military Doula and the Special Ops Volunteer Program. This is the result of years of planning and thoughtful consideration; it is my labor of love. I look forward to sharing this journey with my sister Military Doulas!
